The Friends of the Marching Band is dedicated to the ongoing improvement and strengthening of the Wayne State Marching Band program. Its members are friends, alumni and advocates of the University who recognize the value of the Marching Band experience and are essential to the program’s success. This fund supports the future purchase of band uniforms, instruments and other related expenses.
Uniforms are a key component of the Warrior Marching Band performances. Our goal is to create a marching band uniform that features a clean, crisp appearance recognized as Wayne State University. The uniforms have a lifespan and will need to be replaced a regular basis. Our goal is to create an endowment fund which would provide the revenue required to clean, replace and repair uniforms as needed.
Instruments are the life-blood of the Warrior Marching Band; we can’t perform without them. Wayne State supplies all of the instruments used by our members to ensure a matching look and sound for the Band on the field. It also ensures that Marching Band members and their parents do not face the additional financial burden of supplying an instrument. The instruments owned by the Warrior Marching Band are among the finest available, but their constant use outdoors at the various athletic events necessitates their repair and replacement on a regular basis. As a result, there will always be a critical need for funding in this area.
